Different working situation gave me the opportunity to challenge myself and to learn to adapt to different environments. Contributing to create products and services that improve people lives, is what drives me.
Deep inside me I think I have always been a "designer".
When I was a child, together with my dad, I used to play with pieces of fabric, old parts of metal and wastes of food, trying to transform them inn what I had in my mind, turning my ideas into reality.
Growing up I didn’t lose my attitude as a designer. When I was a boyscout, some years later, I was appointed by my squad to arrange our new headquarter. Since the resources were scarce, finding a way to manage this duty was not easy but, as I found a lack of space, I immediately thought I could create something there. And so I made a rectable table, obtaining good results with the few things I had on my hands, taking a decision based on the needs of my team and I.
Then in high school, when I had to face interrogations without having studied, I had to think outside the box and find creative way to answer the questions anyhow.
I have never been comfortable with the word "designer", that used to make me think about some fancy, self-absorbed guys, who are only good in criticising. Actually this consideration of it was just a mistake of mine, based on the minstraslation from the English to the Italian term.
I had to fly away away to understand my mistake and to figuring out what the word “designer” really means. And so, at the end of the high school, when I still wasn’t sure about my future, I moved to NYC.
Finding myself in the big apple instead of a small, Italian country town with less than 20k people was not easy for the first weeks but, after some time, it was amazing. Living in the one of the most important, multicultural and fancy cities in the world for six months allowed me to see the world under another different and completely new perspective.
Once I came back to Italy I realized the word "designer" means something completely different than what I thought before having lived in NYC. I can say my 6 months experience in the big apple helped me to clear my doubts not only about that word, but also about my future career.
Having left all my prejudices I had about that behind me, I decided to enroll myself at the university and attending the “communication design” course in Milan
Living in Milan during the academic years allowed me to challenge myself trying very different jobs, getting in touch with new realities and people with different needs, always getting the best from every situation in order to improve my job skills as a future "designer" and myself as a person.
At the end of the university I had to take another important decision. Since I was already sure about my future as a "designer", I moved to Naples and started attending the Apple Developer academy, turning page and moving forward to learning more things about that job.
At Apple I understood how just the "designer" thinking can transform some piece of hardware and software in device suited of solving problems. Transforming simple tech devices in something capable to change the world and make people’s lives better is now the meaning of the world “designer” to me.
I can fiercely say that I have always been a "designer" and when a face a problem, as well as when I was a child, I always want to find a solution for it, keeping studying it and spreading my ideas in the most creative way until I don’t find a way to solve it.
